“What would a world be like without drums, or drummers for that matter? Like a good pie crust or whatever the hell is the bottom of a seven-layer dip, drums provide the foundation for all things that ROCK,” states NIM VIND drummer Anthony Kilz. “My style is dictated by the song and what the songwriter wants to hear accompany his melody, so a lot of the time I have to hold back, so it’s fun when we go live I can kind of go off on the songs.”
Kilz adds, “My gear varies from studio to live – I bring a lot more bells n whistles into the studio to give me options, live I usually have more of a practical setup dictated by the travel involved. My general set up includes five-piece Pearl Masterworks and a Chad Smith custom snare.”
As mentioned above, NIM VIND is finishing up a US/Canadian tour with Gary Numan! The final date is today at the Garrick Centre in Winnipeg, MB. Stay tuned for upcoming live performance details from NIM VIND.
Download the band’s new album, Saturday Night Séance Songs, via Amazon or iTunes. NIM VIND invites the listener’s mind into his dark and stormy world with Saturday Night Séance Songs. Throwback guitar riffs coupled with in-the-pocket pounding drum beats highlight sickening bass grooves, skillfully driven by Vind’s smooth baritone vocals soaked in mentally ill-laden poetry.
NIM VIND sought out power mixer Jay Ruston (Stone Sour, Anthrax, Meatloaf, Steel Panther) for Saturday Night Séance Songs, who has taken the NIM VIND signature sound to heightened frenzy. More underground additions to the critical team are Canadian music veteran engineer Doug Fury (Bif Naked) and up-and-coming Anaheim, CA mixer David Irish (sound tech for punk band “X”). In addition, as mentioned above, NIM VIND worked with legendary rock producer Todd Rundgren on the other worldly track ‘Astronomicon’.
NIM VIND and his real life band of brothers (drummer Anthony Kilz and bassist Robbie K) were raised by a symphony musician father and CBGB’s first-wave uncles. These influences also inspired Vind’s production choices.
NIM VIND boasts two other records independent German labels and a good deal of international touring, as well as stints as the front man of family project and ghoul-core greats Mr. Underhill, which segued into a position as the dreamy bassist with Vans Warped Tour sweethearts The Vincent Black Shadow.
