NYMPHIC – Interview

High Flying Brit crossover crew NYMPHIC have just unleashed their thrilling new single and video, Peony, out now. You can watch the video, here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azNByA1x790 . With the band on the rise, we checked in to find out more:

What is the full band line-up, who sings and who plays which instrument?

Stix Warner on vocals, Antonio Giannattasio on bass, George Pitt on guitar and Omar Perez on drums.

How and when did the band form? Tell us anything interesting about your hometown.

The band project was started back around 2014 in London by lead singer Stix when she was in secondary school. Originally an acoustic act that featured another ex-member of the band, who was featured on NYMPHIC’s 2023 ep ‘EVERYTHING IS PERFECT’.

After the pandemic the project was revived as a four piece nu- metal band that began to take on live underground shows across London.

When and how did the band really start gelling and solidifying?

Following the release of their debut EP in early 2023, lead guitarist George Pitt underwent life changing surgery. After his recovery, NYMPHIC once again reconnected, plunging the band into a new level of musical inspiration and embracing a heavier sound. Incorporating our new ideas together with lower tunings and more engaging performances, we recorded our upcoming singles with more songs well on the way.

Who are your musical influences?

With a live presence frequently compared to ‘Rage Against the Machine’ & ‘Linkin Park’, NYMPHIC pulls influence from classic metal bands like ‘Iron Maiden’ to more modern sounds like ‘Royal Blood’. Through our unique blend of attitude and storytelling, we have truly created a name for themselves in the UK underground metal scene.

Where did the name of the band come from?

The band is named after the flower spirit character created by Stix when she was a young teenager, even before she started the project. NYMPHIC pertains to the mythical Nymph creature and represents a feeling of imbalance, mystery and mythology.

Name one crazy, interesting, or wild fact or story about the band or a specific member?

We once went on a camping trip as a band to strengthen our brotherly bond. Our plan was to do a big hike but after about 5 hours we found ourselves on a hillside wood by the sea somewhere near Exmore. Contrary to this being one of the most beautiful walks we’d ever done it soon went south. When the sun went down our phones died and we ran out of water…5 hours later we by some miracle found our way back to our tent, Tony carrying Omi on his back. Needless to say this definitely brought us closer together.

How far back does your history with each other (the band members) extend?

Singer Stix and Guitarist George met at the end of 2018 at The Castle, North Acton, where Stix was working at the time. George moved into the university halls next door to the pub then started working there too! They bonded over music and soon began working on the NYMPHIC project together. They then met Tony on ‘find my band.com’. Finally, The Castle closed down so Stix and George went to work at a cheese packing company where they met Omi, the final member of the band.

In your opinion, how is your band different from all the other bands out there?

Our band encompasses a unique story written about our mascot that embraces many aspects of the state of the modern world, both in environment and society. With our refreshed sound we aim to release trilogies of songs alongside music videos & comics which will put together, details the epic saga of ‘The Nymphic Flower’. Our live shows also incorporate the story told in our songs, through crowd-enticing performances.

If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?

A rebellious attitude with a glitchy heartbeat, Flower power but make it metal!
