A little bit of history about PORTALS:
Starting out as a humble 7-band all-layer at the New Cross Inn in 2015, Portals’ aim has been to help audiences discover their next favourite musical artist. In 2018, founder and music promoter Asher Kenton enlisted the help of his friend, event manager Sam Festenstein. Together they created the first Portals Festival, at the Dome and Boston Music Room in Tufnell Park.
After 4 successful festivals in Tufnell Park, featuring artists such as Delta Sleep, Totorro, Mclusky, and Bossk, the team’s ambition saw them take a big step up when they moved to Evolutionary Arts, Hackney (EartH) in 2023, more than doubling the festival’s capacity.
This stunning venue includes the large Hall space for the biggest artists with state-of-the-art sound and lighting, a breath-taking converted Theatre for expansive and visually striking artists, and the intimate Bar stage for exciting up-and-coming artists.
2024 was the festival’s biggest year to date, with exclusive performances from If These Trees Could Talk, This Will Destroy You, LITE, Wang Wen, Elephant Gym and many more. This built on the success in 2023 when MONO, And So I Watch You From Afar, and Maybeshewill all performed.
