Prosperina are set to release their second album ‘Harness – Minus’ through Maybe Records (Karma To Burn, The Toadies, Sucioperro) on 3rd November 2014.
South Wales’ Prosperina released their debut Faith In Sleep to widespread critical acclaim at the tail end of 2012. Unanimously lauded by the mainstream rock press, plaudits and comparisons soon ran the gauntlet from Tool to Soundgarden, Pink Floyd to Kyuss, Mastodon to A Perfect Circle and several points in-between.
The rousing choruses and powerful anthemic quality of the band’s tunes occasionally belie the highly developed musical and rhythmic complexity nestling just below the surface. Likewise, the masterly control of dynamics and pacing futher aids the extraction of pop from prog and drone from doom. It’s an attractive and beguiling mix.
“Harness – Minus” sees the band step up to the next level as both writers and players. From the truly epic “Proles” to the heavy hypnotic “Graveyard Of Ambition”, from ballsy and anthemic album opener ”Chase To the Throne” to the driving rhythms of “Sleepers”, this album will see the band emerge as a rare and unique British rock talent. The record was recorded in Wales and produced by vocalist/guitarist Gethin Woolcock and Joe Gibb (Janes Addiction, The Cure, Funeral For A Friend)
Taking to the road over the ensuing months, the band have further honed their craft supporting Monster Magnet, Mondo Generator and Orange Goblin to name a few, plus triumphant festival slots at Bloodstock and Desertfest. A recent acoustic tour saw the band support Nick Oliveri across the UK, with Motorhead’s Phil Campbell commenting “I can’t see how their electric set could be better – it was that good”.
The band will be touring later on in 2014
