Putrefy – The Liverpool Masque – 06/04/2011 (Gig)

Welcome to Whiplash Promotions presents Putrefy

Opening up the show are Xenophobic Misogynist.

Whenever one man appears on stage on his own (minus a band) armed only with a guitar and an Ipod you cant help but wonder what the fcuk is going on….

It takes guts to do some thing like this.

It is a shame there were not many people at the venue when Xenophobic Misogynist went on to witness this set – technical issues aside it wasn’t a bad set.

An interesting start to the night but an Ipod is no replacement for a supporting band.

Following on we have Dr AIDS

As a last moment replacement for Introrectalgestation, I didn’t know quite what to expect from this band.

A quick scan though the net produced interesting song titles (most of which I can’t publish lol)

Hearing them playfully heckle Joe Mawdsley’s solo project earlier in the night we knew they had a sense of humour, but watching them on stage was something else.

At one point the other photographers and I were laughing so much we could not take photos.

This is a band who are clearly enjoying what they are doing, and when you strip them of there more comical comments, they come across as very talented individuals.

If you are a fan of Uncle Rotter (or Chubby Brown for that matter!!) you should really check these guys out.

Next up we have Towers of Flesh

Towers are a band who are developing a reputation for self harm and mutilation on stage and tonight followed suit.

Demonic possession and self harm are all in a days work for these guys.

Whenever a band member appears on stage with a hunting knife you can’t help but think what the feck have I let myself in for.

Towers of Flesh frontman Jack Welch seems to strive of that shock factor and pushes both his body and vocals to the limit quite literally spilling sweat and blood to put on one of the most memorable performances of the night.

Ending tonight’s show are headliners Putrefy

It has to be said that these are one of the most underrated bands of the genre ~ you can not help but wonder how high up they should actually be had things moved differently.

For what this band lack in commercial success they more than make up for in musical skill and intensity.

This is no frills or bullshit death metal at its finest.
