Summary:

This is a great EP and I'd definitely recommend giving it a listen

British band RavenEye may be a new name to many, but fans who saw Blues Pills on their latest UK tour will have seen RavenEye supporting them.  I saw their set in London and was really impressed, so the fact they’re releasing an EP in May is good news.

RavenEye are the brainchild of singer/guitarist Oli Brown who wrote the songs on this EP last year then recruited drummer Kev Hickman and bassist Aaron Spiers to form a live band to take the songs out on the road.  The strength of the material is clear – not only have they supported Blues Pills, they’re also supporting Slash on some of his European dates.

The EP kicks off with the title track, “Breaking out”.  The guitar in the first few seconds sounds very much like the Doctor Who theme music, before it leads into the main part of the song – and what a song it is.  An absolutely superb blues infused rock track.  It’s a great start to the EP, and this track alone is enough to justify buying the EP to support the band.

That really sets the tone for the rest of the EP – it’s a 5 track EP and all five tracks are really strong catchy rock songs.  It’s an excellent debut and this is a band that you really need to listen to.

1. Breaking Out
2. Get it Started
3. Run Away
4. Hey Hey Yeah
5. You Got It

This is a great EP and I'd definitely recommend giving it a listen
