Sari Schorr released her debut album two years ago, and despite spending the last two years on the road touring, she’s now ready to release her second album – Never say never. In that time she’s lived in New York, Spain, France and several places in the UK as she’s worked on writing and recording the album. The album was mainly recorded at the Grange studios in Norfolk, UK with some parts recorded in Germany and Nottinghamshire.
Sari Schorr’s debut album was an excellent album and my expectations for this new album were high, but with a bit of doubt – after all so many artists struggle with their second album, but I needn’t have had any concerns – Sari Schorr has produced a better album than her debut. As with the debut, her vocals are simply superb – she’s got a great vocal range and handles soulful and powerful parts with equal ease.
Her band deserves praise too – guitarist Ash Wilson is a solo artist in his own right and adds plenty of great solos to the album, while Bob Fridzema (ex King King) adds the rich Hammond organ sound
It’s a blues-rock album in the main although “Back to LA” is more of an 80s rock song (and a really good one at that). It shows a slightly different side of her vocals and adds a bit of extra variety to the album. Mainly though she sticks to the great blues rock where she’s really making her name.
