Shoshin announce the release of new single ‘Plan C’

Shoshin – Plan C (Cover Art)

Shoshin will release their brand new single ‘PLAN C’ on 18 May, the first single taken from their much anticipated album “Epiphanies And Wastelands”, collaboratively worked on by Chris Sheldon ( Foo Fighters, Pixies, Heaven’s Basement ) and James Kenosha ( Pulled Apart By Horses, Dinosaur Pile Up, Grammatics ).

“Pools of Battery Acid, Noise Pollution, Arrests, Police Brutality, Jail Cells, Fines, Impounded Amps, Tinned Food Survival, Endless Street Shows from Country to Country and Tens of Thousands of DIY albums sold under the radar.”

Shoshin are a highly unique and essential rock trio from the city of Manchester who have gone about building their loyal fan base with a very different approach to what average convention would usually suggest of a new band wanting to get out there. Shoshin’s sound was born and raised on the street and they have spent lots of time over the past few years setting up and playing just about anywhere possible to reach a wider audience. Guerilla gigs are Shoshin’s signature and they’ve played hundreds of shows from country to country in mainland Europe, UK and the USA. They’ve also paid the price for their art along the way too, with local authorities impounding their gear and in several cases, they’ve been thrown in a Jail cell. At a recently devised guerilla performance at Eurosonic Noordenslaag festival in Holland, they earned the unofficial title of “ the most successful band of the festival” by the Dutch music press, after pitching up to play for 7 hours straight in the snow, winning fans and selling hundreds of records.

Their love and signature approach for playing live in this way has taken them to many places , playing to thousands of people, selling thousands of DIY records and helped Shoshin develop into a must see live band. It wasn’t until they took to the streets of Brighton one year to perform The Great Escape Festival, where they were discovered by 7HZ Recordings & Jaba Music Management who signed them to their label instantly. Now with a new album in the bag titled “Epiphanies And Wastelands”, worked on by iconic producers Chris Sheldon and James Kenosha, SHOSHIN prepare to bring their big and unique sound to the further masses. ‘Plan C’ is the first offering and will release on May 18th through 7Hz Recordings.

Shoshin are:

Pete Haley – Vocals, Guitar
Joe Stuart – Bass
Sophie Labrey – Drums

About Louise Swift

I first went to a gig in 1981, Gillan at Leeds University. I've been a regular gig goer ever since. I haven't kept count of how many gigs I've been to over the intervening years, but it's a lot! My favourite bands are AC/DC then, in no particular order, Anti-Nowhere League, Slaughter and the Dogs, Towers of London and Dirt Box Disco. I tend to like Glam/Punk and rude offensive lyrics, not sure what that says about me but as Animal would say 'So What!' The question was recently put to me - did I write for any online publications? My reply - No, but I'd like to! Planetmosh was suggested and I found myself offering to review Aces High Festival. Easy peasy I thought! Well not quite, if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing well! I had sixteen bands to research. I found I actually enjoyed that and it kept me too busy to be making lunatic comments on Facebook! ;) Then I felt a bit inadequately qualified. I mean, who am I to comment on others, when my musical expertise extends to being able to play a mean Greensleeves on the recorder and a passable Annie's song on the flute! Haven't picked up either instrument for years! What I do have, however, is over 30 years of experience as a gig goer, so I can comment on what I like and what I don't! It's only my opinion and, if I don't like a band it doesn't mean they are bad, just not to my own liking. I admire anyone who has the guts to get up on that stage and have a go!
