Summary:

Six tracks of boozy rock n roll that pack a knuckle-duster punch from a Norwegian band that surely draw influences from Skid Row and Exodus.

Formed in 2008, Shotgun Rodeo are a four piece heavy metal band hailing from the city of Trondheim, Norway. Following on from their previous EP releases ‘Dead End Massacre’ (2012) and ‘Guilty as Charged’ (2013), the band released their debut full-length album, ‘World Wide Genocide’. Seamlessly cruising across a sea of metal styles and sub-genres, Shotgun Rodeo’s debut album blends groove metal and hook driven riffs with thrash infused vocals and power metal overtones.

They have now released a new EP,’The New Standard’.

A volcanic guitar lick lifts the lid on Batshit Crazy and instantly Randy Rhodes springs to mind. Pummelling drums signal the intensity of Shotgun Radio and when Nino Escopeta opens his lungs and spews forth … there is a definite Skid Row flavour about this track. Uncontainable is just that. A furiously driven anthem that makes you feel like the punch bag of Anthony Joshua.

Crunchy riffs bolstered by snappy drums keep this sleazy rock train on track, and while not breaking any new ground, I like it enough to press the repeat button several times.

Kudos to guitarist Don Shrediablo for one of the coolest guitarist surnames around. And yes, the guy does shred – every opportunity he gets in fact!
