A brilliant EP that demonstrates that class is out there, you've just got to find it.

Introducing…….Some Time Today. The Pop Punk four-piece outfit from Burscough in Lancashire. Influences which include Blink 182 and Green Day, the band released their first album ‘Better Late Than Never’ in 2017 and have made several radio appearances including BBC’s ‘Introducing’. I first heard of Some Time Today when my previous band ‘Soundstate’ were paired to support them last summer. I Youtube’d the guys and came across a track called ‘Another Way’, which totally blew me away (See video header above). I was so looking forward to supporting and meeting the guys but unfortunately, my band didn’t last until the summer, so I’ve waited patiently for them to release some material and here we are.

Some Time Today are the sort of band that if you’re feeling down, they give you hope. If you’re fed up, they’ll cheer you up. Yes, they are heavily influenced by the likes of Green Day etc, but I think they own more of the ‘Feel Good Factor’ possessed by the likes of Sum 41. ‘Tinderella’  demonstrates exactly what I’m talking about. The opening riff would lift any mood straight away. It projects the music into a floor stomping, uplifting anthem. It’s such a feel good song and would be an awesome track to start any gig. The great thing about this genre is that the choruses are always catchy and this is where Some Time Today excel.

Take ‘Rabbits’  for example. A song worthy of being up there with the best. Punchy, catchy, bouncing, uplifting. It has everything. Have a listen to the lyrics in this. Pure class. But if you don’t listen carefully they’ll go un-noticed, such is the way the music draws your attention.

But I have to say that the jewel in the crown here is final track ‘Say What You Say’.  This demonstrates Some Time Today’s diversity and musical ability. Not just to perform, but more importantly to compose. This track has the potential to be a huge anthem. It starts off acoustically, and is then joined by some peaceful strings. Just when you think it can’t get any more serene or atmospheric, the moment is completed by some perfectly beautiful backing vocals by Beth Olive. The build up that follows and leads us into the final chapter of this EP is perfection. It’s the best track on this EP by far. The atmosphere, feelings and thoughts that this track creates inside me is one of the reasons why I live and breathe music. In my opinion, perfection.
