Dublin band Specter’s mini EP is a preview of what this band has to offer the Irish metal scene.
Life rearranged is the first track of two. While there are elements that are admirable such as vocals and groovy riff, the track is not easily differentiated from Unwhole, the second track and lacks authenticity.
Unwhole contains some powerful, ambitious breakdowns that are worked well into the track and not just slapped in for the craic, all the while maintaining the tone and groove.
All in all it’s a good E.P but they’re not reinventing the wheel when it comes to Groove Metal.
Specter definitely have a voice and a place. Two track E.P is a basic taster so hopefully they’ll give us more to sink our teeth into in the near future and listeners can build opinions more objectively.
