STONE SOUR Set to Release ‘Straight Outta Burbank’ EP

STONE SOUR are set to celebrate Black Friday’s Record Store Day with an all-new EP gathering together five cover versions. ‘Straight Outta Burbank’ will be available at selected record stores as a coloured vinyl-only exclusive on Friday 27th November.

Stone Sour

‘Straight Outta Burbank’ sees STONE SOUR take on five immortal tracks originally performed by iconic artists, Bad Brains, Iron Maiden, The Rolling Stones, Mötley Crüe and Slayer (tracklisting below). The Rolling Stones’ ‘Gimme Shelter,’ features distinctive guest vocals from HALESTORM’s Lzzy Hale and is streaming today exclusively over at Rolling Stone – http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/hear-stone-sour-and-lzzy-hales-reverent-rolling-stones-cover-20151109.

Frontman Corey Taylor elaborates, “I love ‘Straight Outta Burbank’ because it’s a little bit further out there than ‘Meanwhile In Burbank…’  The first EP was a little closer together style-wise. This one hits a few different corners: got Bad Brains on one end and the Stones on the other, with Crue, Slayer and Maiden in between… and the crazy thing is it all WORKS. I think that’s a reflection of us as a band – we do what we want, style-wise and it WORKS. I hope people enjoy the spirit, music and fun that went into this.”

“To stay true to the original recordings of these songs, we tried to recreate the sounds and tones that the original artist used,” adds guitarist Josh Rand. “This was both fun and challenging, but the end result was worth all the hard work everyone put in.  I feel that with the diversity of the songs that the band has covered, it will definitely impact us on the next STONE SOUR release, but until then we hope you enjoy ‘Straight Outta Burbank.'”

‘Straight Outta Burbank’ marks the a second instalment of STONE SOUR’s ‘BURBANK..’ covers EPs.  The release arrives in the wake of their Record Store Day exclusive EP earlier this year, ‘Meanwhile In Burbank…’ which collected together covers of luminaries such as Black Sabbath, Metallica, KISS, Judas Priest, and Alice In Chains.

About Louise Swift

I first went to a gig in 1981, Gillan at Leeds University. I've been a regular gig goer ever since. I haven't kept count of how many gigs I've been to over the intervening years, but it's a lot! My favourite bands are AC/DC then, in no particular order, Anti-Nowhere League, Slaughter and the Dogs, Towers of London and Dirt Box Disco. I tend to like Glam/Punk and rude offensive lyrics, not sure what that says about me but as Animal would say 'So What!' The question was recently put to me - did I write for any online publications? My reply - No, but I'd like to! Planetmosh was suggested and I found myself offering to review Aces High Festival. Easy peasy I thought! Well not quite, if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing well! I had sixteen bands to research. I found I actually enjoyed that and it kept me too busy to be making lunatic comments on Facebook! ;) Then I felt a bit inadequately qualified. I mean, who am I to comment on others, when my musical expertise extends to being able to play a mean Greensleeves on the recorder and a passable Annie's song on the flute! Haven't picked up either instrument for years! What I do have, however, is over 30 years of experience as a gig goer, so I can comment on what I like and what I don't! It's only my opinion and, if I don't like a band it doesn't mean they are bad, just not to my own liking. I admire anyone who has the guts to get up on that stage and have a go!
