In April, South London riff-monsters Stoneghost released their relentless and blistering debut album ‘New Age of Old Ways’ on the Mascot Label Group (Black Label Society, Volbeat, Gojira, Joe Bonamassa) and will drop their new single ‘Raynardine’ on 22 June.

The accompanying video sees them virtually exploding out of a tiny basement to which frontman Jason Smith said; “Raynardine is unrelenting, dirty, aggressive and has a no nonsense attitude that could only be portrayed in a video that embodies all of these qualities. Filth goes hand in hand with this song,we knew the video needed to show the beast it is in its natural habitat. A grime ridden dungeon.”

Met with a barrage of praise with Metal Hammer claiming they are “destined for big things”, Classic Rock pronounced them an “explosion of vitriolic blood, guts and brutal cries”, Terrorizercalled them “Immense”, Q said they “keep the brutally groovy spirit of Pantera alive” whilst the Guardian heralded they create some of the “most infectious riffs of the 21st century.” Further praise came from Alex Baker of Kerrang Radio who said “My head nearly exploded with how good this band are” and Sophie K made it them her record of the week exclaiming “these guys are ones to watch”. Further radio play came from Daniel P Carter at BBC Radio 1, Ian Camfield at Xfm and Johnny Doom at Kerrang Radio.

‘Raynardine’ is a hammer to the head of a song which occupies the line between mythology, trust and apprehension. The story of a wolf in sheep’s clothing where Smith’s vocals spit out “steal all their hearts away” over a tank crushing rhythm section and formidable guitar twists that are relentless and cut though the vocals whilst a war rages.

Formed in Bromley, South East London amongst a thriving underground scene, Stoneghost are tattoo artist front man Jason Smith (vocals) Cris Finniss (Drums), Jamie Nash (Bass) and Andrew Matthews (Guitar). The quartet have quickly became a dominant fixture on the London circuit with their blend of hardcore, metal and adrenaline fuelled rock with further explosive shows at Bloodstock Festival last year where they stormed the stage in front of 1500 people alongside Opeth, Fear Factory, Children of Bodom, Gojira and the Devin Townsend Project as well as performances at Wacken Open Air festival and Metal Hammer’s Hammerfest IV..

‘New Age of Old Ways’ was recorded with Russ Russell who has previously worked with Napalm Death, Evile, Dimmu Borgir, Sikth and New Model Army who helped harness the raw live energy and translate it to record.

Guitarist Andrew Matthews will also be testing his endurance with a 161 mile charity bike ride from London to Download Festival with the Heavy Metal Truants in aid of Nordoff Robbins, Childline and Teenage Cancer Trust. You can visit his Just Giving page HERE
