Storms release debut track ‘Girl’ available as a free download

London four-piece Storms have been gathering a lot of attention over the past year, with a palpable buzz building across the industry. Retaining full creative control they recently signed a deal with fast-rising Manchester label MUK and have unveiled their debut, ‘Girl’.

A savvy grunge-infused track bathed in 90’s influences that seamlessly blends hypnotic pop sensibilities with a pounding anthemic chorus, ‘Girl’ is the perfect introduction to Storms’ prodigious talent, written by guitarist Felix Howes.

“Girl is about this Girl, curiously,” Felix explains. “I’ve loved and hated her from the moment we met because she makes me feel so euphoric one moment but the next unbearably miserable. The song tries to show how all those blurred lines between love, obsession, hate, resentment, self-loathing etc. can combine to make a person feel and behave completely unlike their normal self.”

The hugely entertaining video for ‘Girl’ will be released next week but you can hear the track here, and download it for free from the band’s website now.

Over the past twelve months Storms have been creating quite a name for themselves with NME tipping their song ‘Swell’ last year, stating: “It’s hard not to fall for Storms after you hear their charming track. What ostensibly starts as a melodic slacker gem in the vein of Mac De Marco quickly evolves into a Nirvana-style thrash, and then back again.”

The band have also been building a stunning live reputation touring the UK solidly in 2014. They ended the year with rip-roaring performances headlining a nationwide tour with LIFE and playing über-cool club night This Feeling, even landing a tip in The Sun as one of the most exciting acts for 2015.

Storms have also been championed as ones to watch in 2015 by XFM with plays from Dave Rowntree and Propaganda, have been getting plays from BBC Introducing and headlined X-RAY Touring’s tips for 2015 showcase as part of the ILMC. The band have a busy summer of shows coming up including a performance at the Isle Of Wight festival this June and a residency from May through to August at the Blow Up Club at St Moritz in Soho.
