It’s 2am Sunday morning so I decide to do a quick review to try to get tired then all of a sudden THIS voice comes thundering through my headphones. The voice belongs to Quinn Gardener-Kane, one half of the duo that makes up The Black Skeleton, the other being Dave Leslie and the song is ‘Out Of Our Minds’.

A gently strummed intro is the calm before the storm as his booming voice made for an instant comparison between Johnny Cash and Joe Cocker. It’s an overwhelming delivery that’s like having your heart torn out and fed to the vultures! His devilish croon is strengthened by huge riffs and things get more emotional as the vocals pitch higher and he holds onto the last note like his life depends on it to let us reflect until on what we’ve just heard, then press repeat play again and again!

The Black Skeleton is a powerful, melodic rock journey, a window to the inner thoughts and stories of Quinn’s life experiences, some dark and haunting, but always personal.
