Summary:

The stark and brooding atmosphere of the first three minutes builds up to a full on euphoric coldwave dancefloor classic that ends abruptly leaving people wanting more. Overall very classy sounding and a show of real potential.

Montreal based postpunk band The City Gates present their new single ‘Siegfried 1969‘ on Velouria Recordz. Review

After an initial coldwave beat we get a wonderfully chunky Trad Goth baseline. This is soon to be followed by reverberating guitar which compliments the dark western sound; think Bauhaus, Libitina or early Sisters.

The stark and brooding atmosphere of the first three minutes builds up to a full on euphoric, coldwave dancefloor classic that ends abruptly leaving the listener wanting more. Overall very classy sounding. The City Gates show real potential.

As of July 22, ‘Siegfried 1969‘ will be available via online stores such as Apple Music and streaming platforms such as Spotify. Until then, it can be pre-ordered directly from the band via their Bandcamp page.
