The Cosmic Vortex Of Doom are set to stone the New Blood Stage on Saturday 11th at this year’s Bloodstock.
We catch up with the guys to find out more about them, their thought about the festival and what you lucky Bloodstock go-er’s can expect from them!
Can you give the readers a quick introduction to the band?
Benjitsu Westoni(vocals), Scotty Doom(Guitar), SteveO Humphreys(Drums), Mike ‘Jim’ Sweeney(Bass).
We are The Cosmic Vortex Of Doom, we are a sludge groove band from Leicestershire and have been together for 8 years. Our main influences are, Pantera, Iron Monkey, Orange Goblin, Black Sabbath and Catherdral. We decided to start this band due to our mutual love for all things stoner and doomy and no one else round our local scene were doing anything similar so we thought……why not eh??? Why not???
Have you ever been to Bloodstock before? If so when and what did you enjoy most about it?
We have been for the last 6 years, both as spectators and playing with other bands that we have been involved with(The Cosmic Vortex of Doom have also played an acoustic set in 2010) and there have been way to many memories but, to pick a couple…Cathedral playing in 2010, being on the dodgems….whilst smashed and Opeth smashing up the main stage in 2010(their cover of Catch The Rainbow especially)
Why did you want to become part of the Blood Stage line up?
It’s an amazing opportunity for unsigned band to be noticed and we’re big believers in supporting underground music and what better advert for it than the new blood stage
What was your initial reaction when you found out you where playing on the New Blood Stage?
Shiiiiiiiit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is your opinion of the Bloodstock lineup?
It’s probably the strongest line up they’ve had, Machine Head, Crowbar, Corrosion of Conformity, Viking Skull, Sepultura and Orange Goblin…. it just gets better every year and to be apart of it makes it even more special for us.
What are you looking forward to most at Bloodstock?
Camping, drinking, playing and Orange fucking Goblin
What can the audience expect from you at the festival?
Honest, heavy and raw heavy metal sludgery…..and maybe a bit of stealth bumming….if your lucky
Can you sum up Bloodstock in one sentence?
The best UK metal festival,For the fans, by the fans
Any message you wish to pass on to the PM readers?
Support up and coming music and more importantly, join us for a beer!!
Thank you for taking the time out to complete this interview, we are looking forward to seeing you at Bloodstock \m/
