The Dead Amigos traverse the highs and lows of life in new single ‘1 in 5’!

Melbourne rockers The Dead Amigos has released an infectiously groovy number  ‘1 in 5 ‘ that raises a drink to the highs and lows of life. A debaucherous tale of rock n roll that is as unapologetic as it is uncensored. The track broods to a crescendo of manic pub energy, which is exactly what the world is screaming out for right now.

Frontman Max Shepherd explains:
“Sean (drummer) brought this two-chord song into practice one day and the vibe was just there from the start! Everything fell together so quickly, with the lyric “1 in 5″ reflecting that life is a game of chance. It soon became a crowd favourite, although we had no intention of releasing it as a single until Covid hit and we felt we just needed to share some music during these bleak times.”

The track is accompanied by a spectacular stop-motion video, the brainchild of Dan Armstrong (Strongman Pictures) which light-heartedly tells the story of the song.

‘1 IN 5’ – THE DEAD AMIGOS – OFFICIAL VIDEO

Blending the styles of blues, rock and funk, The Dead Amigos are a guitar smashing, roof climbing, trumpet pumping Rock ‘N’ Roll mariachi band from hell!

The band formed in St Kilda, Melbourne, in early 2016 and have been seamlessly blending styles of ska and funk with bluesy rock n roll ever since, creating a unique experience which has become a staple of the “St Kilda” sound.

The first cut of this sound can be heard on their 2016 debut self-titled EP a funkylicious debut that showed listeners that the boys wouldn’t be pigeonholed when it came to the genre. A few more years experiencing the Melbourne scene would lead them to write their rooftop protest ballad ‘Hold Out’, nominated for Classic Rock ‘Tracks of The Week’.

With two Aussie East Coast tours under their belt, an upcoming debut album release with producer Tyson Fish (The Living End, Dropkick Murphys, Bad//Dreems) at the helm and a thumbs up from Tom Morello, it’ll take a lot more than a global pandemic to stop The Dead Amigos bringing their unique blend of St Kilda rock n roll to the masses!
