The Dead Daisies ignite the Picturedrome in Holmfirth

It has been over a decade since the supergroup’ The Dead Daisies hit the scene. Let’s make some noise tonight as singer John Corabi is back, bitch, along with ‘The Meat-Machine’ Tommy Clufetos, pounding those skins!  If that’s not enough to get you by the edge of your seat, the train keeps rolling and it is all aboard for a sellout show at the Picture Drome, Holmfirth tonight.

One More Shot…Raise Your fist to the sky, as The Dead Daises welcome you to the other side!! The Dead Daisies’ new album ‘Light Em Up’ title track ignites the auditorium with its pulsating high energy. Doug Aldrich tears out the riffs as John Corabi, gauging his audience as they let it light them up with a good dose of classic rock and roll, paving the way for the night ahead.

With a pulsating 18-song set list including a good few covers recorded by The Dead Daisies, there’s a powerhouse of energy building!  ‘Rise Up’ is an apt second number. Michael Devin brings the heavy bass lines as stalwart David Lowery power poses and rocks across the stage.

Since arriving in the UK on the 6th of September, which also coincided with the release of their ‘Light Em Up’ album,  the band has embarked on a full-on 12-date tour of the UK. From Daiseyland to your local venue the Dead Daisies are back!

The rhythmic beats of the new song ‘I Wanna Be Your Bitch’ implode, as Corbai takes it all in his stride, working his audience and again gauging their reaction to another new song. It’s been less than a week since the album’s release so it’s great to see a good crowd response.

Returning to their Holy Ground album when Glenn Hughes was both singer and bass bassist, with ‘Unspoken’ and ‘Bustle and Flow’. ‘The Meat-Machine’ Tommy Clufetos takes charge as he goes hell for leather with an epic drum solo on Bustle and Flow as the rest of the band seizes a quick break at the side of the stage.

Bringing some Southern Country feel on ‘Lock’N’Load’, which featured Slash on the album version, but who needs him tonight when you have the talented Doug Aldrich, performing the main riffs and giving an epic guitar solo!!

There’s a great camaraderie between the band. Corbari is very animated as he tells the audience that the band has a rep for singing songs about ‘modes of transport’. Corabi revs himself on an imaginary bike and flips his ass to the crowd on the intro for ‘I’m Gonna Ride’ another fantastic song off ‘ Light Em Up, It doesn’t disappoint, it’s ballsy, bluesy and everything You want from a hard-rocking band!

Telling us that his pal, David Lowy, has a penchant for getting high, high in the sky that is, Corabi introduces ‘Born To Fly’ as he mimics himself being an aeroplane across the stage. Lowry is like a conjoined twin playing back-to-back with bassist Devin, these guys were born to fly the axe together, on this edgy rocker!

Okay enough with the modes of transport. Let’s Get Down and Dirty and heavy on the band’s cover of  ‘Take A Long Line’ it oozes an Aerosmith vibe and the magic of Corbai’s vocals makes it seem effortless,  as he delivers himself with good prowess.

Corrabi takes the opportunity to introduce his fellow bandmates, with whom he says ‘he has at least 3 best friends’  – haha!  As we get more of the American anthems and keeping with the theme of covers ‘Fortunate Son’ has become a fan favourite for the band to play, and it features on their Make Some Noise album.  The rousing ‘Mexcio’ is the penultimate song before The Dead Daisies break for an encore and their version of ‘Midnight Moses’ closes the set.

After a short break, the Dead Daisies return to the stage for two more songs; ‘Long Way To Go’ pulsates its gravitas and their well-constructed version of  ‘Helter Skelter’ closes the evening.

A most excellent and very impressive strong performance was given by the whole band tonight… Long may the Dead Daises rule!!

The Treatment

The main support for tonight’s epic show comes from Cambridge rockers, The Treatment!

With their latest sixth studio album ‘Let’s Wake Up The Neighbourhood’ released earlier this year, The Treatment powers out onto the stage following an AC/DC backing track of ‘Highway to Hell’ which got the crowd’s juices flowing. The band launches into the album title track. Boom! Singer Tom Rampton is straight on it, as he and his band power out a full-on rock and roll set.

Ramping up the energy ‘Let It Begin’ continues the run-a-way train of high-octane rock and roll. How this band hasn’t reached greater heights is beyond me. It’s great that they are on this major headline tour supporting the Dead Daisies.

Another banger from their newly released album is ‘When Thunder and Lighting Strikes’ which is the epitome of a song, showing the magnitude of The Treatment.

The Treatment already has some fans in the crowd but I think they are making new ones. Ladies and gentlemen for your delight, the latest single release ‘Man On A Highwire’ kinda slows the pace with its rhythmic beat, it’s still a heavy riffer, that’ll knock you off your feet. Followed by the infectious grooves of ‘Bite Back’ it is synonymous with The Treatment sound. Playing full throttle, the band put the pedal to metal on ‘This Fire Still Burns’.

Closing with Shake The Mountian, The Treatment has shaken its crowd tonight delivering a rambunctious set!

So long everybody, thank you all for coming. Singer Rampton gives big thanks to their audience and The Dead Daisies for having them along on tour and to The Bites for getting the crowd fired up!

THE BITES

Opening tonight’s show is Hollywood rockers, The Bites who first began their love affair with the UK in December 2023, on their ‘Knockin’ on The Door’ tour. And it is great to have them back supporting The Dead Daises with their infectious 80s-inspired garage rock and roll. Formed by singer Jordan Tyler and drummer Mark Hylander, the duo are joined by guitarist Jono Ritcher and bassist Zack Currier.

Knock Knock Baby, The Bites open with ‘Knockin’ On The Door’, the hard-hitting riffer, has singer Jordan Tyler, going like a frenzied aerobics instructor, touching feet on every inch of the stage, with high kicks to boot! It’s hard to catch him on one spot for too long, like the lyric ‘Won’t you follow me, screaming and shouting’ The Bites have knocked down the door, proving that they ain’t just ‘Pretty Boys’ the good grooving of ‘Dirty City’, has the crowd rocking along.

Delivering an impressive eight-song set and with only one album to boast of, you’re getting an almost full-play of their ‘Squeeze’ album. Throwing in a melody of Black Sabbath’s” War Pigs’. We get treated to a new track ‘Fire In Hollywood’, fire in Holmfirth, it’s a high-octane song from start to finish.

Closing with ‘Do Me A Favour’ The Bites certainly made their mark tonight!
