Summary:

"The Ghost Wolves follow a pre-cast formula to their musical composition as no track stands out as distinctly different to the rest."

The Ghost Wolves are a married duo hailing from Austin, Texas. They released their debut album ‘Man Woman Beast’ on May 27th 2014 through Plowboy Records. This album was recorded at Arlyn Studios and mastered by Howie Weinberg.
The Ghost WolvesThe first track ‘Shotgun Pistol Grip’ swings through the speakers with a real southern groove to it. It’s clear that their music is very drums and bass orientated. Carly ‘Craazy’ Wolf’s vocals sounding like the sweet little girl nextdoor trying to be bad, while Jonathan ‘Little Hammer’ Wolf has a strong drawl to his vocals as they swap the lead vocals on this track.

Although the production on this album is high quality and very clean, as it proceeds through the playlist it is very clear that The Ghost Wolves follow a pre-cast formula to their musical composition as no track stands out as distinctly different to the rest.   While listening you can just picture a seedy western saloon with bar brawl about to happen.  But to my ears this is just one big long song.
Lyrically, they use their experiences of growing up in the wilds of Texas:  ‘I Was Wrong’ falling back on the old story of a failed romance and revenge, and ‘Itch’ based on the girl unsatisfied with what she has and wanting more till she gets it.

With The Ghost Wolves being a married duo its hard not to compare them with The White Stripes and yes the are reminiscent of the above mentioned but female fronted.

Track list:

Shotgun Pistol Hold / Gonna Live / Baby Fang Thang / Grave Dollas / Ride The Wolf / I Was Wrong / Itch / I’m Yo Mudda / Attack Attack Attack / Dangerous Moves / Lies I Told / White Lily / Mosquito

Recommended listening:  I Was Wrong
