The Hellacopters, one of the finest rock bands to emerge from Sweden, strike back with their ninth studio album, Overdriver, released on January 31st 2025 via Nuclear Blast Records.
‘Token Apologies’ scythes along, hardly pausing for breath as a drum driven midsection is a full on pit opener, closing on guitar histrionics.
‘Don’t Let Me Bring You Down’ eerily opens up this steadfast chugger and its off kilter choruses.
(I Don’t Wanna Be) Just A Memory’ is a tub thumper par excellence from drum driven lunacy and spotlight stealing choruses.
‘Wrong Face On’ has garage rock written all over it for a fight to the finish when bass guitar bruising ends the fight.
‘Soldier On’ is a rocking roarer of crunching riffs and more fretboard burning solos.
‘Doomsday Daydreams’ has a ballbusting intro that soon takes a breath until punch packing choruses dominate.
‘Faraway Looks’ is a thrashtastic, short but sweet thrasher of pit opening prowess that doesn’t let up until every ear is melted from its ferocity.
‘Coming Down’ gives us the blues for a brief breather until the rhythm section muscles up to take charge.
‘Do You Feel Normal?’ is a valid question for this insane album. This song tries to usher up summer early and wins as it brings out summery vibes with ease.
‘The Stench’ is a doom laden, black hearted monster, throwing over a suffocating vibe.
‘Leave A Mark’ also lives up to it’s title by some seriously tectonic plate shattering power, also strange is that the lyrics are the same as ‘Born In The USA’ by Bruce Springsteen.
