Stoke On Trent based The Revenants were a revelation as they put the power into power trio when I caught them play at The Rigger in May this year with an incendiary performance and they’ve channelled that vibe in the studio with their latest single ‘Mutiny + Griffin Castle’.
‘Mutiny’ is a romping, stomping sail on the high seas delivery of neat rum fuelled rhythms to put the fear of God into any landlubbers who get in their way. Growled vocals ensure they get to the buried treasure first, point proven by the repeated mantra outro of “Mutiny, mutiny, mutiny”.
Closing track ‘Griffin Castle’ has quirky grooves that add an extra edge to an already bonkers slice of Neil Young like verses and proto punk fuelled choruses that are caught off guard by an eerie keyboard midsection and fretboard burning outro.
