My first hearing of The Rods was from their self titled album in 1980, followed up by Wild Dogs in 1982, two essential purchases of mine back then, but are the band still relevant almost forty five years later? Hell yeah they are, as they unleash a brand new single ‘Rattle The Cage’, which is also the title of a forthcoming 2024 studio album on January 12th, via Massacre Records.
Formed in 1980, Cortland, New York, 1980, they were billed as “The American Motorhead”. The trio still have two original members, David ‘Rock’ Feinstein on guitar and lead vocals and Carl Canedy on drums, joined by Freddy Villano on bass guitar, and they whip up a heavy metal storm, courtesy of a catchy but still ballbusting main riff, seismic bass guitar runs, all pinned down by an inhuman drum battery. Chest beating choruses prove that their statement of intent shows they are here to stay and air guitarists will be foaming at the mouth for the for a fretboard burning midway guitar solo and snare driven outro.

We feel our new album, “Rattle The Cage” is one of our best ever. We’re looking forward to working with everyone at Massacre to help make this album as successful as it deserves to be.
