The Southern Experience Band – Where I’m from

The Southern Experience Band released their debut EP (Beginnings) in 2011 and are back with their debut album.

Brief comments on a few of the songs

The album kicks off with a short intro before the first proper song, “Where I’m from”.  It’s got a real Southern feel to it and really sets the tone for the rest of the album.  It’s a great song, as is the second song, “Make me or break me”.  Both are good rock tracks – not especially heavy, but with enough power that they’re clearly rock – and Southern rock at that.

“Fight the fight” is a great song, slow and soulful, with lyrics about going to war which prevents it being described as a ballad despite the feel of the music.  It’s definitely one of the best songs on the album.

“You know” straight away takes the pace up several notches.  It’s a very fast paced guitar-led track and is one of the heavier tracks on the album – yet another good track.

A very good album for lovers of Southern Rock.
