The Trews announce five shows opening for American garage-rock Supersuckers throughout England this October. The concerts back the quartet’s acclaimed self-titled fifth album from last April and push past 1,000 the total number of shows the globe-trotting rock bruisers have headlined and performed with the Rolling Stones, KISS, Guns ‘N Roses and countless others since debuting a decade ago.
“We love Supersuckers. They’re just… legendary,” confirms Trews guitarist/songwriter John-Angus MacDonald. “Plus it’s always great to play the UK. We’ve been visiting consistently since our debut (2003’s House of Ill Fame) and have built up a fan base, so we really look forward to getting back. Supersuckers bring the party pretty hard,” MacDonald laughs, “so we’ll have to keep up with them!”
Further ensuring The Trews’ 2014 UK infiltration: 90,000 copies of CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE hit stands this week, featuring a cover-mount of the band’s latest disc with a revealing track-by-track breakdown by John-Angus MacDonald.
“People who buy that magazine – and I count myself among them – really care about music that’s both new and classic,” offers MacDonald, pointing to his band’s 2007 nomination in CLASSIC ROCK’s Best New Band category as further evidence of The Trews’ indelible spot on the power-pop/rock continuum.
The Trews – including Colin MacDonald (vocals/guitars) and Jack Syperek (bass/vocals) and Sean Dalton (drums/vocals) – have amassed 15 Top-10 radio hits, including several #1 and #2, two Canadian gold albums, and raves from Australia to Austin for their incendiary live shows.
Expect more praise to garland The Trews’ performance alongside Aerosmith and guitar great Slash at this September’s Cape Fest in the band’s home province of Nova Scotia.
