TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR Announced As 2014 CMJ Convention Showcase Contest Winners

Torrential Downpour

Skateboard Marketing Ltd. and ReverbNation are pleased to announce that New Jersey’s own TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR have been selected as this year’s winner to their 2014 CMJ Convention Showcase, taking place at The Studio At Webster Hall NYC on October 23rd! The contest to select an opener for the annual event has become a tradition for Skateboard Marketing and ReverbNation. It’s an ideal opportunity for an artist to been seen by the industry, as well as fans.

“I’m pleased that we’ve found someone who we really think has the chops,” states Munsey Ricci, president of Skateboard Marketing. “Both myself and Lou Plaia of ReverbNation agreed on it.”

New Jersey’s TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR, who boast a history that spans across nearly two decades, the is anything but typical. Described by some as “Space Metal”, TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR’s music is a unique blend of technical and progressive metal infused with post rock tendencies. Through a battery of harsh and hauntingly beautiful soundscapes, a voice and language blooms as an entity unto itself that lives through the musicians it harnesses. The muscle that pumps the lifeblood is structured by the imagery and will of the men that serve it.

Also scheduled to perform are eOne Entertainment’s BLACK CROWN INITIATE who have been hailed as one of 2014’s breakout artists. Immediately following will be IKILLYA, THY WILL BE DONE and BYZANTINE. Clearly, this showcase is the place to be if you are attending this year’s 2014 CMJ Convention.

Every year Skateboard Marketing Ltd. holds their yearly anniversary party – and this year marks the company’s 23rd anniversary. The party always starts with a one-hour private VIP open bar, sponsored by Budweiser. The first hour will be “guest list only” for music industry and family. Doors for CMJ Convention badge holders and ticket holders will be immediately following at 6:00 PM.

Past convention showcases were held at Don Hills & The Bowery Poetry Club. Some of the artists that have showcased include: Fear Factory, Warrior Soul, Brand New Sin, Beyond The Embrace, Between The Buried And Me, Misery, Sinai Beach and Texas Hippie Coalition.
