Suvilahti Helsinki will once again be taken over by metalheads, as the nineteenth annual Tuska Festival gets going. Tuska 2016 will see performances by such acts as Ghost, Avantasia, Children Of Bodom, Anthrax and Testament, to name a few.
HELSINKI STAGE
It’s been years since Tuska second stage was a tent stage. The huge tent brings much sought after atmosphere to the festival milieu and enhances the visual side of the bands’ performances. Bring on the Helsinki Stage.
Other stages remain to be presented by Tuska’s long time associates, namely Radio Rock Main Stage and Inferno Third Stage.
SOLMUSALI STAGE
Brand new Solmusali Stage provides something completely new to the Tuska audience: Artist and industry power player interviews, panel discussions and a Swallow The Sun acoustic set thrown in the mix for good measure. Solmusali has the capacity of approx 100 persons and it’s open for all Tuska ticket holders. Tickets for the shows at the Solmusali can’t be reserved, it operates with the ”First Come, First Served”-principle, excluding the Swallow The Sun set, for which the tickets will be raffled.
Solmusali Program:
ALEX SKOLNICK (Testament) – Metal Legend interview
Skolnick’s solos have been studied by thousands of aspiring guitarists around the globe for decades, now you can hear what makes him tick on Friday.
Interview by Toni-Matti Karjalainen
SCOTT IAN (Anthrax) – Metal Legend interview
The man is known for some of the most punishing thrash riffs of all time, he’s also known for his verbal acrobacy. He’s got stories for days. You can hear them live on Saturday at Solmusali.
Interview by Petri Eskelinen
JOUNI MARKKANEN – Tuska Program Director
He’s been booking the bands for Tuska since forever. Ever wondered what goes into that selection process? Now’s your time to find out.
Interview by Pete Cato
ALL BLACK – The aesthetics of darkness in metal today
Discussing the topic are horror author Marko Hautala, researching musicians Titus Hjelm (Thunderstone) and Kimi Kärki (Lord Vicar) and editor-in-chief of Inferno Magazine Matti Riekki. Discussion moderated by Toni-Matti Karjalainen. This is in Finnish, sorry international folks.
ERROR – errors of the mind
The author of the book ”Error – Mielen häiriöitä” Elina Järvi along with Journalist Klaus Flaming and two of the cast appearing in the book, are discussing mental health issues through stories intertwined in the metal world. This discussion is also in Finnish.
SWALLOW THE SUN performs the acoustic second part of the current album trilogy at Solmusali on Saturday 2.7. All Saturday Tuska-ticket holders can enter the contest to win tickets for the unique show at http://www.inferno.fi/uutiset/tuska-swallow-the-sun. The winner will be announced on the week of the festival.
The exact schedules for Solmusali as well as the entire festival will be announced soon. All rights to changes reserved.
