Scottish based noisemongers Victory Or Die, have been recommended to me by Fee McKernon, so this review is dedicated to her. There are so many bands out there, it’s hard to keep up with them all as they state their conviction from the off with their latest single ‘I Lose Control’.
It’s all about the main riff which immediately burrowed its way through my headphones. First impressions were like the heavier side of QOTSA which is no bad thing. It becomes a full on slammer, taking no prisoners as it roars with supreme confidence, knowing that they have a classic in the making for circle pit opening prowess. Drums are full on tub thumping, laying down an earthshaking groove. Midway it turns on its head to unleash a twin axe attack to keep the air guitarists busy, closing on the superhuman bellowed choruses. Job done!
Since their formation, Victory or Die has been making waves in the Scottish rock scene, supporting legendary acts like Warrior Soul and Love/Hate and performing at renowned festivals like Winterstorm .This year you can catch them on many different venues and towns and they are also playing No Sleep to Blackpool and Bonfest as special guests this year. Their music is a testament to the enduring power of rock ‘n’ roll, capturing the rebellious spirit and raw energy that has fueled the genre for generations.
