After touring their debut album The Art Of Manipulation to death, Preston based nutters Ward XVI are taking a hiatus to write new material so this gig was to be their last show of 2018 but not even a disrupted train service full of annoying Manchester United fans and even more annoying Xmas shoppers was going to stop us getting there!
Still short of a drummer they were down to a four piece today with guitarist Alex Cunliffe taking the stool (and he did a mighty fine job), leaving head honcho David Stott to take all guitar duties as he raged away over the evil croon of lead vocalist Psychoberrie who stalked the stage on and off with her chainsaw during ‘Cry Of The Siren’ and starting us dancing for the circus pit in ‘Toy Box’. It’s all great fun as usual with their Alice Cooper like schtick cranked up to eleven and beyond. Their five song set ended all too soon and hopefully it won’t be too long until we see them again.
Go and see Ward XVI during visiting hours for a set of epic proportions!
