Rising from Detroit Fucking Michigan comes a new brand of Hellraiser, a band without gimmicks and causes or a dedicated genre – their name is Wilson and they are here to blast your pants off. Their debut album Full Blast Fuckery was released stateside in 2013 and has now finally received a physical release in Blighty and beyond. Described as “not a fucking ‘internet band’” and “five dudes in a van with beards and big dicks – working harder than your parents”, Wilson is a band that brings chaos everywhere it goes and the challenge for the quintet was bringing said chaos to the studio.
Taking no prisoners from the off, album opener ‘My Life My Grave’ facefucks you like a wave of searing lava and grabs you by the fucking balls. This manly death grip is not released for what turns into 32 minutes of pure mayhem. At times, Wilson remind me of the now defunct Fight Paris and the whole album has songs that make you think, “who does that sound like?”; But what makes it great is that it’s impossible to hit the inspiration nail exactly on the head as Wilson draw from all quarters in making their own unique debaucherous din. ‘College Gangbang ‘(probably where the AC/DC comparisons have come from) with its hook filled chorus and neck breaking rhythm along with the sinister shake of ‘If You Ever Leave Me I Will Find You’ – (see videos below) – were the first tunes lifted from Full Blast Fuckery and it’s no wonder that they were chosen, as they are songs that enhance the aforementioned death grip.
The hilariously named ‘I Can Beat Your Dad’ and ‘Viking Pussies Fuck Off’ show a great sense of humour or is it more the sign of a band that doesn’t give a flying fuck and will write about whatever they fucking want under their own fucking terms? I’m going with the former. The vitriolic vocal delivery of Chad Nicefield does demand attention throughout Full Blast Fuckery but on‘Susan Jane’ he is at his most caustic as he bellows “Don’t look into my eyes”.
In summation, Full Blast Fuckery is a furious fucking animal and where Bon Scott preached “Let There Be Rock”, Wilson have decreed, “Let There Be Fuckery”.
‘Full Blast Fuckery’ will also be available in a delicious bright green vinyl format with brand new artwork. CDs, vinyl, ‘Fuckery’ hats and CD/t-shirt and vinyl/t-shirt bundles will all be available from the webstore at http://www.backstreet-merch.com/stores/wilson
