Witchburner – Bloodthirsty Eyes

Witchburner - Bloodthirsty Eyes - finalcover

Witchburner are a thrash metal band from Germany.  Their old school thrash metal reminds me on venom.  The voice of the singer ‘Pino’ often sounds like Conrad ‘Cronos’ Lant sometimes like Lemmy.

The first song ‘Sermon of Profanity‘ starts melodically and later it gets more power but not so much power like the next song ‘Possession‘. This song has powerful riffs from the start and it makes fun to listen to the album.  The next song ‘Master and Slave‘ reminds me more on Motörhead than venom.  The next 2 songs ‘ Path of the Sinner ‘ and ‘ Apocalyptic Versions ‘ also have great and powerful riffs.

The title track Bloodthirsty Eyes has also powerful riffs but the special thing for me is the drum playing it’s very fast and powerful. I like this very much. This song sounds like a mix of venom and over kill. ‘Never Surrender‘ starts slow but later it’s a very fast song which is well-done. ‘Spirits of the Dead‘ is a very good song for head banging or maybe a pit. It’s very fast and powerful. ‘The bringer of disease’ is also a great song with more Motörhead sound than a venom sound.

Overall the album is very good and I recommend that venom or old school thrash metal fans should buy this album.

About Del Preston

So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweet shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me and Keith Moon and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweet shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shop owner and his son, that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business really. But sure enough, I got the M&Ms and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show.
