XII Boar are set to play the New Blood Stage at this years Bloodstock festival on Saturday the 10th August.

We catch up with the band to find out more about them, the festival, their thoughts and what you lucky Bloodstock go-er’s will see!

Can you give the readers a quick introduction to the band.

XII Boar (pronounced ‘twelve boar’) was formed back in early 2010 by the three of us; Tommy Hardrocks (Guitar & Vocals), Adam Thomas (Bass & Vocals) and Dave Wilbraham (Drums). We were all friends before and simply shared a love of drinking and listening to metal. The usual!
We jammed in the rehearsal room for about a year finding ‘our sound’ before releasing our debut EP – ‘XII’ – in January 2011. A year later we released the follow-up EP – ‘Split Tongue, Cloven Hoof’ which has sky-rocketed us to where we are today.

How would you describe your sound?

Metal n’ roll – Part southern stoner groove, part thrash, part Crowbar-esque sludge and one hell of a lot of balls-to-the-wall metal.

Why did you want to become part of the New Blood Stage line up?

Bloodstock is one of the most important dates on the metal calendar, it’s a huge deal for both bands and fans alike, it’s a family almost and why wouldn’t we want to be a part of that!? Bloodstock also gives the lesser known, but still equally as good, bands a chance that other festivals don’t. So the New Blood Stage is a great place to discover your new favourite band.

What was your initial reaction when you found out you where playing on the New Blood Stage?

Fuck yes!

What can the audience expect from you at the festival?

Expect fun. We’re not one of these serious ‘metal elite’ kinda bands, but we’re not a comedy band. We’re just here to have a good time.
You can expect high energy, brutal groove-laden riffage, punishing drums, double kicks, blistering bass licks, sleazy leads and girls getting moist in the front row.

What has been the bands biggest achievement so far?

We’ve had some pretty great achievements in the last year alone; Bloodstock is a pretty big deal. We also played Wales’ Hard Rock Hell Festival last xmas which was rammed. Oh and Metal Hammer featured us as the 1st track for their New Southern Metal Trendkill CD which was ace!

Have you ever been to Bloodstock before? If so when and what did you enjoy most about it.

Adam and Dave went last year, it’s a great festival! Watain stole the show though I seem to remember, but the best bits are always getting plastered and causing mischief.

What is your opinion of the Bloodstock line-up?

We’re on it so it’s awesome!

What are you looking forward to most at Bloodstock?

Besides playing, it’s probably just hanging out with good friends, seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones.

Can you sum up Bloodstock in one sentence!

Metal as fuck.
