Young states are a punk rock band that met while studying at music school in Norwich. Formed as an all-female band, they’re inspired by alternative rock bands such as Mallory Knox or Kids in glass houses rather than punk bands such as Sex Pistols, and that shows in their music – more alternative rock or at best, pop-punk than what I would call punk.
Lead singer and bass player Georgia says: “All the tracks on the EP have different meanings to some extent but the common thread between them all is that they’re all about my own (not-entirely-happy) feelings I’ve experienced in the past. The idea for the EP name comes from saying that I experience these exact feelings at the moment wouldn’t be true.”

For me this release never quite hits the mark. I think there’s definitely a lot of potential here but at the moment there just isnt anything here that really demands repeat listening – it’s all very good but just not quite great. I suspect that it’s only a matter of time though before the band come out with a far bigger and better release and that will definitely be worth watching out for.
