Summary:

A great album - quite possibly the best yet from Halestorm.

Having been a fan of Halesform for many years, having first seen them play live 8 years ago, I was looking forward to hearing the new album. I really love their first two albums (particularly the 2nd album “The strange case of..”, but wasnt so keen on the last one (Into the wild life), so I was curious what the new album was going to be like. Well the short answer is that the new album is fantastic.

The album kicks off with “Black Vultures”, the first single from the album, and what a great start to the album it is – this is Halestorm at their best with strong riffs and catchy songs. Check out the video here..

The second single is “Uncomfortable”..

“Killing ourselves to live” is another fantastic song – strong catchy tune with a really heavy section toward the later part of the song.

Closing track “The silence” may be played on acoustic guitar, but don’t think that means Lzzy Hale will stick to soft gentle vocals – her vocals are soft at times but there’s plenty of power in the vocals for much of the song. It’s a great song and a nice end to the album.

This album is absolutely fantastic – the songs are catchy and heavy, Lzzy’s vocals are as powerful as always (and also soft where needed) and the guitars, drums and bass are spot on. The mix is great – while the vocals take centre stage, they never overpower the instruments, and the whole thing just sounds perfect. While Halestorm live sets have in the past relied heavily on songs from “The strange case of…”, I can certainly see quite a few songs from this album becoming staple parts of the live show. Quite possibly their best album yet.

“Vicious” will be released on 27th July 2018
