Keep It Sexy is the offering of St. Albans rockers Alexis Kings, released on March 11th through digital download. After hearing the single “1972”, I was quite impressed with the energy and general style of the track. It’s very Kings of Leon with the swagger of Arctic Monkeys which may sound a little overdone, but surprisingly, with a few twists, is refreshing to hear.

“Brothers”

I like everything about this track. The video sports a light-hearted glimpse in a recording studio armed with a semi-naked man. It starts off with some guitar twang and snowballs quickly, hurtling towards that very London-esque vocal that wouldn’t be misplaced on a Guy Richie film.

“1972”

The beginning guitar riff forces you to take notice as soon as the track introduces itself. With a downright dirty vocal slapped over, like it’s 1972, too damn right, this is Indie rock but at its sleaziest best. This E.P has been added to my morning music list. My one major problem being there are only two tracks, so ‘Keep It Sexy’ is more a quick peck on the cheek, leaving the listener wanting a little more.

Track listing: 1. 1972; 2. Brothers

Alexis Kings are: Brendan Aherne (Vocals and Guitar) and Sam Privett (Lead Guitar)
