Defy All Reason – Unity Works, Wakefield, 13/12/2014.

Defy All Reason GavinUnfortunately the majority of the Unity Works crowd did not turn up until later on in the evening but to those that saw Defy All Reason’s set  they were in for an early Xmas treat as the band made the most of their stage time after their long trip from Wrexham in North Wales. This was the second time I’ve seen the band in 2014 and look forward to 2015 gigs when they will be promoting their March release of their debut album The Road Ahead. A track from it, their current single ‘Bad Blood’ closed their 6 song high energy set at the Unity Works.

Four riff laden hard rock numbers were backed by two that took the pace down a bit. Their cover of Bon Jovi’s ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive’ is an excellent version but Defy All Reason have a song of that calibre to compete with it. ‘Behind Those Eyes’ is an emotional tour de force with an intense lead vocal from Gavin Lee Jones and strong backing vocals from guitarist Darren Jones and drummer Todd Edwards which received the loudest applause of their set.

Defy All Reason band :-

Gavin Lee Jones – Lead vocals/guitar.

Darren Jones – Guitar/backing vocals.

Lee Shenton – Bass guitar.

Todd Edwards – Drums/backing vocals.
