Summary:

It's a good EP and a welcome return from the band, but I'm hoping for better when they come to do their next release.

Essex band Forever Never formed in 2003 and after releasing an EP and a couple of albums they announced in 2012 that they were to take a break.  In 2015, Kerrang heralded their return with a preview of the new song “Never giving up” which enjoyed considerable success.  In July this year, the band released the single “We won’t save the world”, and have now followed it up with a new EP – Speak up.

The rifs are punchy and the songs have a strong catchy feel to them.  The lyrics are excellent and intelligent, and are well worth paying attention to, especially on “We won’t save the world”.  With a Linkin Park feel present at times, there’s also a Nickelback feel too (but not quite as bland as Nickelback) – Forever Never have that same catchy radio-friendly feel to the music that Nickelback have.

It’s a good EP and a welcome return from the band, but I’m hoping for better when they come to do their next release.
