Summary:

A 4 minute turbo charged return from Obey.

Staffordshire based trio Obey have been playing musical chairs since I last heard from them. Well, to be more correct, musical drum stools! Bassist Chris Poole has taken over drum duties following the departure of Matt Lane, so welcome Dan Ryder on bass guitar. New single ‘Gutless’ is a taster from forthcoming studio album Maelstrom, for which there will be an album launch at Stoke Sugarmill on August 6th 2016 and the single is available on digital download via www.cdbaby.com/cd/obey2.

Obey

Those who have heard Obey before will know what to expect but new listeners can revel in the pummeling intro that leads into the thick, stuttering riffs that propel the verses along, delivered by the rich, soulful vocals from Steve Pickin. A short, sharp guitar solo that takes on the melody of the vocal refrain of  “There ain’t gonna be no coming back” comes at the end of a melodic but heavy chorus as the song crashes to a close on some crushing instrumental grooves. ‘Gutless’ is an excellent taster for what is to come in August.

Obey band line up :-

Steve Pickin – Guitar/vocals.

Chris Poole – Drums.

Dan Ryder – Bass guitar.

A 4 minute turbo charged return from Obey.
