State Of Deceit – Interview

UK heavyweights, STATE OF DECEIT, have released an explosive new track, Vengeance – , taken from their new debut EP, Retribution, out now. We asked the guys to introduce themselves:

What is the full band line-up, who sings and who plays which instrument?

Pete Scammell – Vocals

Jon Russell – Guitars

Matt Wilson – Bass

Matt Toner – Drums.

How and when did the band form? Tell us anything interesting about your hometown.

The band came together late 2018, being from all over South Wales, there’s over a two hour journey for everyone to get together for practice! The band has therefore played hometown shows all over south Wales.

When and how did the band really start gelling and solidifying?

With Pete Scamell joining the band and proving his vocal prowess in the live environment, it finally gave a stable line up for us to take forward and record a debut EP.

Who are your musical influences?

Pantera, Stampin’ ground, Slayer, Kill2This, Wage War, MH, KSE, Architects, CoC, Pitchshifter, Fit for a King, Arch Enemy, One Minute Silence etc…

Where did the name of the band come from?

Lots and lots and lots of debate, we kept coming up with names, googling them to find a band had already taken the moniker which was frustrating. Once we bounced around State of Deceit it resonated on a number of different levels with us.

How far back does your history with each other (the band members) extend? Are you friends from school or any family relations?

JonR and MattW gigged together in separate bands previously on the local circuit. They then joined forces, after Jon hounded Matt to join the band and bring his cheery personality.

In your opinion, how is your band different from all the other bands out there?

We still retain our thrash roots as you will hear, in an era of breakdowns and singalongs we have our vocal and guitar riffing with a blend of guttural brutality, soaring harmonies, over a wave of savage bass and destructive drumming.

If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?

We would sign to go to our gig, remove your shoes and feel our sonic onslaught deep within your bones, while watching the live spectacle unfold.

Where can we find your social media sites?
