Summary:

It's a great live release, and if you can afford it then the Mediabook is definitely the version to opt for as you get both DVD/Bluray and CDs plus a load of bonus material (Hellfest and Woodstock festival sets)

Following the success of Tarja’s “Act I” live DVD, she’s now releasing Act II. The DVD was filmed on her Shadow shows tour, and consists of two very different shows. In the same way she released two albums with contrasting titles and themes, the shows filmed are very different. On the one hand you have a large show in Milan – one of the regular tour dates. The other show is very different as it was filmed at Metropolis recording studios in front of an audience of just 20 competition winners (plus a few members of the press), so was a very intimate affair.

“Act II” will be released on July 27th, 2018 on earMUSIC as 2CD digipak, 3LP Gatefold (180g, black), DVD, Blu-ray, Limited Mediabook 2CD+2BD (incl. two full live shows filmed at Hellfest in France and Woodstock Festival in Poland as bonus) and Digital. See Tarja’s web shop for details – https://tarja.tmstor.es

The DVD and BluRay releases consist of the two concerts. Obviously since both were to promote her new album, there’s a fair overlap in the songs played at each, but equally both feature songs that weren’t played at the other. The 2CD version is simply the Milan show (minus “Against the odds”). Fans opting for the mediabook get two extra full concerts thrown in which makes it a very attractive purchase since that’s four concerts in one package.

The CD has excellent audio quality and is beautifully mixed. Tarja’s incredible operatic vocals are crystal clear and there is plenty of power in the music. The mix means that whether it’s a soft gentle section or a more powerful one, nothing is lost – everything is there to hear and enjoy with no risk of any of the instruments being drowned out by the guitars or vocals.

It’s a great live release, and if you can afford it then the Mediabook is definitely the version to opt for as you get both DVD/Bluray and CDs plus a load of bonus material (Hellfest and Woodstock festival sets)
