Summary:

Not damned if they do or if they don't as the powerhouse quartet The Hot Damn raise the temperature with the release of their debut studio album Dancing On The Milky Way.

Goddamn! As The Hot Damn finally unleash their long awaited debut album, Dancing On The Milky Way! Their may be trouble ahead with World unrest, but these twelve tracks from the all female band will bring a smile to our faces, point proven by this very impressive release via Fat Earth Records and Rock People Management.

Hailed as the “Colourful Chaos” of rock, the quartet are breathing the dye colour back into the music scene. They formed out of the ashes of The Amorettes, Tequila Mockingbyrd, Aaron Buchanan And The Cult Classics and New Device/Sophie Lloyd Band.

‘Fizz Buzz Crash’ aptly describes the opening track as lead vocalist Gill Montgomery proclaims, “Are you ready for this you sexy motherfu**ers?”. It bounces along on catchy riffing from Gill and Laurie Buchanan, a sugar sweet lead vocal, bass bombast and full on band belted out choruses.

‘Dance Around’ is an overwhelming adrenaline rush of fiesty, feelgood vibes, roared out with punk rock belligerance, twin lead guitar overload midway and a seismic drum battery from Josie O’ Toole.

‘Jukebox On The Radio’ has a quirky intro of cowbell (more cowbell please), followed by speaker rattling bass guitar bombast from Lzi Hayes and the choruses must be sung out by us mandatory, ending the song on air guitar inducing frenzy and ‘that’ chorus once more!

‘I Didn’t Like You Anyway’ is a tribal drum slammed headbanger, gaining power when the caustic choruses kick down the doors.

If you like fuzzed up stoner rock, then look no further as ‘Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn!’ lives up to its expectations for this tectonic plate earthshaker.

‘Going Down’, (ooh matron!) is another bass heavy bruiser to keep up the heaviness ante with ease as they lock in tight to make for my album highlight.

‘Automatic’ has all proto punk vibes and a lip curled snarl for this gnarly, guitar heavy grinder, going down the gears for “Whoa oh oh” fuelled choruses.

‘Live,Laugh,Love’ sums up the tone of the album, delivering a powerful message of life is for living as it’s not a rehearsal, so crank up your stereo until your ears bleed, and the outro is delivered like a sergeant major with a loudhailer!

‘About Last Night’ is a romper stomper of more bass battery that hits as hard as nails, making it the heaviest track, pinned down by a fuzzed up midsection and more devastating drum assaults.

Another song that lives up to its title sees ‘Loud And Clear’ be a raging rocker that takes no prisoners, riffing and snarling like a barroom brawl.

More power pop punk pogoing comes from ‘Can You Hear Me Now?’. It’s a bonafide rock club floor filler par excellence and surely a contender for rock radio airplay.

This highly impressive debut closes with ‘Sticky Clubs’ as Gill belts out some window shattering vocals, pitching even higher to add more ire to this dreamy ballad with balls, ending on an air guitar inducing solo. Job done!

Gill Montgomery enthuses,”We can finally announce our first-born album Dancing On The Milky Way, out now. Okay, so it might have taken us eight singles, four years and a lot of blood, sweat, tears, beers, vomit, late nights, early mornings of writing, pain, doubt, panic, unicorns (you get the idea….) but we couldn’t be prouder”.
