5 Stars all day long! Fresher and louder as the day they were born. Do not miss these re-releases!

After releasing their first record in twenty three years last year in the form of ‘Awakening ‘, Arizona thrash veterans Sacred Reich will re-release their early back-catalogue on 12th February 2020. ‘Ignorance ‘, ‘Surf Nicaragua ‘ (EP) and ‘The American Way ‘ are all re-introduced in what can only be described as an unforgettable trip through nostalgia. You know that feeling you get when you hear a song and it takes you back to your youth, and you then wish you were back in that time? Well, that’s how I feel now as ‘Layed To Rest ‘ from ‘Ignorance ‘ floods through my headphones.

Oozing a plethora of formats (below) this really is a show-and-tell of what were one of the most influential, yet under-rated bands of the late 80’s / early 90’s. The actual albums themselves sound a little fresher, definately louder, but what is impressive is that they still contain that ‘tape’ sound. You can’t beat it.

I never really paid a great deal of interest to ‘Ignorance ‘ and I never really knew why. But it was the ‘Surf Nicaragua ‘ EP that really caught my ears when it was released, and this re-release actually sounds epic. Really fresh and vibrant. The title-track’s mid-section still one of the best I’ve ever heard.

It’s a shame ‘Alive At The Dynamo ‘ isn’t part of this set, as that was something else in itself, but ‘The American Way ‘ more than makes up for this loss. Again, this album sounds a little louder but not as fresh as ‘Surf Nicaragua ‘. The title track epitomizes just how great this band where back in their day. Timeless classics. ‘31 Flavours ‘ was a classic of diversity at the time, but not for me now!!

This set is definitely worth getting your hands on and will be a gold mine for avid Sacred Reich collectors. We need a UK tour next when we can. this is one band I missed in my youth, but I wont let that happen again, given the chance. Definitely a renewed ‘Reich’ phase coming on.
